What are the eligibility requirements, or prerequisites, to take the courses?

[Level One requires only that you have a valid CPR certification and pass both the theory exam and have a minimum of 40 hours industry attachment.

Level Two requires you to have completed the Core Course or have an equivalent industry/university certification. You will then be required to sit a theory examination plus a practical exam (either Aerobic and Group Exercise, aqua Instruction, or demonstrate knowledge applicable for the Fitness Leader on the Gym floor).

Level three requires you complete the above competencies of the Fitness Leader and you will then be required to sit a three hour theory examination and a two hour practical examination.]

How much time should I allow to prepare for the exam?

[It depends on your education and experience. If you have a background in exercise science and have been working in the field for at least 6 months, you may only require a few weeks of review. However, if you are just entering the profession, you may require 4-6 months to study and obtain hands-on experience.]

What kind of questions can I expect on the exam?

[You can expect three types of questions: knowledge, application and analysis. Keep in mind that each question has one correct or clearly best answer. The questions will be a blend of multiple choice, short answer and also case study style.]

How much does it cost to become FISAF certified?

What are the passing rates for the FISAF exams?

[The MINIMUM passing rates for the theory examinations is 78%. Participants are required to pass the theory examination before being allowed to take the Practical component.]

When attending one of the courses what are the minimum requirements for a participant to pass?

[Participants must attend at least 80% of the lectures and practical workshops, complete the home study manual, be an active participant in class discussions and activities and successfully pass the theory and practical examination. Finally the participant must have a valid CPR certificate.]
